Executing Model-based Software Development for Embedded I4.0 Devices Properly

چکیده
Technical interoperability in “Industrie 4.0” scenarios is currently being achieved by standards such as OPC UA. Such standards allow operators to use a common communication interface for heterogeneous production devices. However, production flexibility (e.g. selfconfiguration or dynamic self-adaptation) can only be achieved if system structure and engineering processes change. At the moment, traditional engineering processes for embedded systems generate communication interfaces from software. This stands in stark contrast to componentbased software engineering approaches. In this paper, we introduce a tool-based software engineering approach that puts models back at the core of embedded system development. This approach enables flexible production scenarios by bringing together process-oriented software development and operator-oriented interface construction.

Model Driven Development (MDD) and Model Based Testing (MBT) are gaining inroads individually for their application in embedded software engineering projects. However, their full-fledged and integrated usage in real-life embedded software engineering projects (e.g. industrially relevant examples) and executing MBT in resource constrained embedded systems (e.g. 16 bit system/64 KiByte memory) ar...

Embedded real-time systems are tightly coupled with the physical world. This tight coupling imposes para-functional requirements (such as timeliness, jitter, fault-tolerance, and security) that go beyond functional (logical) behaviors. We have developed a Model-based embedded system development tool called Time Weaver [3]. Our tool provides new abstractions that enable the modeling of both func...

An increasing number of "smart" embedded devices are employed in our living environment nowadays. Unlike traditional computer systems, these devices are often physically accessible to the attackers. It is therefore almost impossible to guarantee that they are un-compromised, i.e., that indeed the devices are executing the intended software. In such a context, software-based attestation is deeme...

In this work, we propose a complete methodology called RESS (Real-Time Embedded Software Synthesis) for the automatic design of real-time embedded software. Several issues are solved, including software synthesis, software verification, code generation, graphic user interface, and system emulation. To avoid design errors, a formal approach is adopted because glitches in real-time embedded softw...
